Bouldering St. Georges Holy Grail, Moes Valley

Rock-Climbing-Moes-Valley-Utah-BouldersMoe’s Valley is like the holy Grail of southern Utah if you would like to go bouldering. If you haven’t heard of Moe’s, you are missing out. It’s a massive bouldering area with hundreds of problems that still have undeveloped problems waiting to to be claimed.

Climbing The Moes Valley Boulders

I would recommend camping out, there is plenty of space to for parking. Moes Valley is accessible with a 2 wheel drive car. Sometimes the road can be pretty rough, but I see small cars out there all the time. The lower Valley, just off the parking area, is really good for warming up and trying out a couple of the main Boulders. There are some great problems although they may be pretty greasy and chalked up. If you’re ready to climb for a good amount of time and step up to a lot more problems heading up to the upper Valley is definitely a must do. If you head up the lower Valley it splits into two ravines, you can go up either one to get to the upper Valley and some of the incredible areas.

Don’t Forget The Rock Climbing Guide Book

If you are willing to make Moes Valley a regular trip I would still get a Moes Valley climbing book from The Desert Rat off of St. George Boulevard and Bluff Street. The Desert Rat has the local climbing book for Moes Valley that has detailed information about the climbing in the area.

If you plan on staying in St. George for a longer rock climbing trip, I would highly recommend Garth’s rock climbing area Green Valley boulders or even scampering around on Dixie rock area for bouldering.
