Graduating college was quite an experience I had no idea that it would be so weird to be out of school for the first time since I was a little kindergartner. It is strangely odd to go out in the real world and have college not prepare you for it fully. Many people talk about the fact that college won’t really prepare you for what you’re going to do when you graduate. When you graduate and go on to get a job where your employers tell you to do something most likely you have to teach yourself how to do it. That is the real value of college

The system force feeds you information and expects you to learn how you can teach yourself it and then they let you loose. It’s really something that you have step back and say I guess I didn’t learn a lot over the last few years, I just learned how to teach myself. The sooner you learn that you will be better off than 90% of the world. Really school was incredible and I loved it, it is just surprising how much you don’t learn about an industry in school.
Getting Involved Saved My College Career
Without school I would be nowhere and I fully enjoyed being able to be active in school and involving the college community. Taking part in multiple activities and organizations really set me up nicely, where I was able to get a dream job right out of college in the industry I actually graduated in. I must’ve done something right or just got lucky. I’m really grateful that I have friends and mentors that supported me and helped guide me go in the direction I was striving for. With their guidance I don’t know how else I would’ve done it.
Check out some of my other post graduation adventures sailing the Caribbean as well as going to DC for DECA international and winning the international competition in my category. All these experiences really show the contrast that I had in such a short period of my life, great times.
