Multi-pitch Rockclimbing in Snow Canyon State Park

Multi-Pitch-Rock-Climbing-Snow-CanyonLately i have started to join more friends and finally stepping into multi-pitch rock climbing. Multi-pitch climbing it’s quite an incredible experience. There’s something incredible about being hundreds of feet up a climb that changes everything you thought about yourself. Like do I have the cojones for this crap.

Multi-pitch rock climbing really brings in the mind factor and scares you. Humans are all naturally scared of heights, but some of us like to see what height really scares us. The scare that you get from multi-pitch’s as opposed to bouldering or single pitch climbing is a whole other world of fears. I love heights and climbing but when i spent a good amount of time looking out 300 feet up in a belay station i started really thinking of how safe i really was. Double checking gear and crossing my fingers nothing goes wrong. multi-pitch climbing is usually is pretty easy and not as strenuous as most single pitch climbs, but the fact your hundreds of feet up in the air makes it quite a different challenge.

Snow Canyon is way too underutilized and the fact that it took me this long to climb some good multi-pitches is pathetic. I wish I had gotten there previously. I went up with a good friend, Ty Mangum and did Gratitude a great 4 pitch climb next to leopardskin one of the most popular climbs in there for beginners, I would recommend checking it out. The climb is a little over 350 feet of pure awesomeness, that has breathtaking views. With just a few run out sections with some slab climbing and sloppers its a great climb.

Be Smart When Multi-Pitch Climbing

I would recommend educating yourself before getting into multi-pitch climbing and going with someone that has experience. There would be nothing worse then getting yourself into trouble up on a big wall. There’s a whole lot of more mistakes that can be made when you’re already two pitches up in the air you don’t want to be caught up there in a bad situation because sometimes there’s no way to get yourself out. Yeah, good luck.
